How to Transfer Data from Samsung to Samsung Wirelessly?
Decided to switch from the old Samsung smartphone to a brand new Samsung Galaxy Phone wirelessly? In this condition, it becomes quite frustrating for a non-techy person to transfer all device data and settings to the new device. However, it is as easy as this blog post.
To transfer data from Samsung to Samsung wirelessly, download, install, and launch the Smart Switch on both Samsung smartphones. On "source smartphone," tap "Send data," and on "receiver smartphone," tap "Receive data" to start the transfer. On the source device, tap "Allow" to connect with the new device, select the data you want to transfer, and then tap "Go to the Home screen" after all the process is done.
In this article, I'll explain in detail how to transfer data from Samsung to Samsung wirelessly using Smart Switch and Google Account backup. Additionally, I'll describe the fastest method to transfer data using the iBekit Phone Transfer App.
Guide List
How Do I Transfer Data from Samsung to Samsung Wirelessly?
To transfer data from Samsung to Samsung wirelessly, follow these step-by-step methods.
Wireless Method 1: Transfer Data from Samsung to Samsung Using a Smart Switch.
The Smart Switch from Samsung allows you to move along with all the data and the smartphone settings from an old device to a new one. For this, you just need to tap a few times on both smartphones, but it can take a long time, depending on the device's data size. The transfer through the Smart Switch is wireless. So, it will take more time as compared to wired methods. So, I advise you to be patient during the process.
There are some pre-checks to consider before you start the process.
- Both Samsung smartphones should have more than 60% charge.
- Both devices should be connected to stable WiFi networks.
- It is advisable to make a backup of your old smartphone.
To transfer data from Samsung to Samsung wirelessly, follow these steps.
- Search your Samsungs apps for Smart Switch on both devices and tap open it. If this is not available on one of your smartphones, search for the app in the Play Store and then download and install it.
- Once you open the app, agree with the "terms and conditions" if you're using the Smart Switch app for the first time on your device. Tap "Continue" and tap "Allow" to give all parameters permissions. Repeat this process on both devices.
- On the "Source smartphone," tap "Send data.," and then tap the "Wireless" option.
- On the "Receiver smartphone," tap "Receive data," tap "Galaxy/Android," and then tap the "Wireless" option.
- On the "Souce smartphone," tap "Allow" to get connected with the "Receiver smartphone" and start the process.
- After the "Receiver smartphone" is connected to the "Source smartphone," select the data you want to transfer from the "Select data to transfer" screen.
- Now, after choosing the data from the options, i.e., "Everything," "Just accounts, calls, contacts, and messages," or "Custom," tap the "Next" button at the "right bottom" of the screen.
- After completing the transfer from the old phone to the new one, tap the "Go to the Home screen" button from the "Done transferring your data" screen.
- Don't "turn off" the WiFi now because the data transfer and smartphone settings have been completed, but your new smartphone is still running the app installation and processes over the WiFi.
- Now, you can "factory reset" the old smartphone once the data is successfully transferred.
Note:
Don't use your smartphones during this process until the data transfer is complete.
The Smart Switch does not allow you to move the "WhatsApp" data with the complete backup on the new device. Ensure to create a "WhatsApp" backup before you start data transfers. After that, you can restore its data on your new device.
Wireless Method 2: Restore Google Account Backup on Samsung Smartphone.
Restoring the Google Account backup is quite a handy trick to transfer all the data, device settings, and apps to the new device. It takes less time to clone the device data as compared to Smart Switch because it just restores directly from the Google Cloud on your new device.
To restore the Google Account backup on your new Samsung smartphone, follow these steps.
- On your old Samsung smartphone, pull down the notification tray and then tap on the Settings icon.
- Scroll down a little and then tap "Accounts and backup," and then tap the "Backup and restore" option from the screen.
- Now, from the Google account section, check if "Backup my data" is "toggled on" and "Backup account" is showing your ID logged in.
- If not, tap to toggle on "Backup my data," and then add your "Backup account" by entering your "Google ID" and "Google ID Password."
- If yes, skip the above step, tap "Google Account," and then tap the "Back up now' blue button to create the recent data backup.
- Once you complete the old smartphone backup, launch the new Samsung smartphone. From the start-up, start setting up your new phone and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Agree to general "Terms and Conditions" during this process. From the "Bring your old data setup" screen, tap "Skip this for now," and then tap the "Next" button from the bottom right.
- Connect to a stable "WiFi" network and then sign in to the "Google Account." Enter the same "Google ID" and "Google ID Password" where you created the backup.
- Agree with the Google "Terms" and tap "Yes, I'm in" to process further.
- From the "Choose a backup to restore" screen, tap the backup option you've created recently, and then tap the "Restore" button in the bottom right of the screen.
- Next, complete the device setup, set the date and time, and skip unnecessary steps you don't want now. Accept the "terms" and wait for the restoration process to be completed.
- Once the data restore is complete, tap "OK" to complete the process. Please don't turn off the WiFi until it pulls and installs all data, settings, and apps from your old device.
Note:
Before making the recent backup on the old Samsung device, ensure that it includes all the data you want to transfer to a new Samsung device.
Wired Method: Transfer Data from Samsung to Samsung Via iBekit Phone Transfer.

Here's how you do it.
- Download and install the iBekit Phone Transfer on your PC from the iBekit website.
- Now, launch the software application on your PC and connect both Samsung smartphones using the compatible USB cables. Allow USB debugging on both devices for a successful connection.
- When the connection is established between both smartphones and your PC, from the software "top bar" drop-down "menu," select the old device from which you want data transfer to your new device.
- Once you select the old smartphone from the left panel of the software screen, click on "Photos" to transfer all photos to the new Samsung smartphone.
- After that, click on the "Check All" box to select all the images. Of course, you can choose to move specific "Photos" from an old smartphone to a new one.
- Once the selection is done, click on the "Export to Device" icon next to the "+" icon in the top bar of the left panel. Here, you can also click the "Export to PC" icon to make an additional backup on your computer.
- Now, wait for the process to be completed. Once it is done, repeat the process to transfer music, videos, contacts, and messages to your new Samsung smartphone.
Note:
Please don't disconnect the USB cable from both Samsung smartphones and use it until the transfer is completed.
